And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of
the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that
they watched him.
And, behold, there was a certain man before him which
had the dropsy.
And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and
Pharisees, saying, IS IT LAWFUL TO HEAL ON THE
SABBATH DAY?
And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed
him, and let him go;
And answered them, saying, which of you shall have an
ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway
pull him out on the Sabbath day?
And they could not answer him again to these things.
Luke 14:1-6
1. Miracles can happen even when you are having a
meal. Jesus had gone to have lunch in somebody’s
house. The power of God was present and He was
able to minister great miraculous power of the Holy
Spirit.
And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the
chief Pharisees TO EAT BREAD on the sabbath day, that
they watched him.

2. This man was suffering from dropsy, which is oedema
or swelling. This swelling could have been caused by
a kidney disease, liver disease or even a blood disease.
Jesus has power over all complex diseases.
And, behold, there was a certain man before him which
had THE DROPSY.
Luke 14:2
3. Jesus likened the healing of this man to the rescuing
of an ass or an ox from a pit into which it has fallen.
When you have certain diseases, you are like an ass
or an ox that has fallen into a pit. The power of God
is available to rescue you and set you free from every
plague, curse and complex disease.
And answered them, saying, which of you shall have AN
ASS OR AN OX FALLEN INTO A PIT, and will not
straightway pull him out on the Sabbath day? And they
could not answer him again to these things.

4. As far as God is concerned, you must be rescued and
set free from the curse of sickness.
And answered them, saying, which of you shall have AN

5. The miracle healing of the man with dropsy (oedema)
demonstrates the love of God, the compassion of Jesus
Christ, the greatness of Jesus Christ and the power of
the Holy Spirit.
… For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he
might destroy the works of the devil.
1 John 3:8
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten
Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.
John 3:16
6. “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath day” were the
words of Jesus to reassure and to fight for the man
who had oedema to receive his salvation and healing.
Legalistic, religious and self-righteous people concern
themselves with regulations, rules and technicalities rather than
focusing on the great and good work that is done. As far as Jesus
is concerned, technicalities must be set aside for you to receive
your healing.
7. Since you can be healed on any day, it means you can
be saved on any day. You must be saved today! Open
your heart to Jesus and receive your salvation today.
